Getting Started

The State Library has a wide range of online journals, magazines, ebooks, and current and historical newspapers on offer to both members and visitors to the Library.  eResources available from the Library can be found in the catalogue.

Most of the subscription eResources are accessible externally, however, some eResources and CD ROMs are only available onsite at the State Library, so if you can’t find what you are looking for visit the Library.

A selection of State Library eResources are available for all WA Public Library members under a state-wide licensing agreement.  You will need your public library membership card to login and access these.  If you're not a member of a WA Public Library, contact your local library and enquire how to join.

Conditions of Use

Use of eResources is governed by the terms of the licence agreements between the publishers and the State Library of Western Australia and users are required to comply with the terms and conditions set out in these agreements.

  • Use is permitted for private research or study purposes only and is not permitted for business, commercial or work related purposes.
  • Limited copying or reproducing from eResource is usually permitted for private research or study purposes only. Users should refer to any copyright or terms of use statements appearing within the eResource and comply with the instructions. Where no statement restricting copyright can be found, users should assume that as a minimum requirement they should comply with the Australian Copyright Act, available from the Australian Copyright Council website.
  • Use is for the registered member only and access is not transferable.
  • Students may use the eResources at home but schools may not place links to the eResource on school websites for students to use while at the educational institution.
